DAY 4 — Discernment
Theme: Not Everything That Shines Is Truth
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 11:14, Matthew 7:15–16

Not everything deceptive looks dangerous.
Some things look… good.
Convincing. Attractive. Even spiritual.
History shows this clearly.
In places like Scotland, you find both:
deep moves of God
and systems, traditions, and practices that carry spiritual language—but not Christ-centered truth
That tension isn’t unique to a nation.
It exists in every generation.
Because deception doesn’t always come as darkness.
Sometimes… it comes dressed in light.
Paul writes:
“Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.”
That means deception doesn’t always feel wrong.
Sometimes it feels:
logical
harmless
even helpful
Jesus warned:
“Watch out for false prophets… they come to you in sheep’s clothing…”
Not wolves in wolf clothing.
Sheep’s clothing.
That’s the danger.
Discernment isn’t just about:
big systems
obvious deception
It’s about the small things you allow into your life.
Because mixture doesn’t start loud.
It starts subtle.
A compromise you justify
A truth you water down
A conviction you ignore
And slowly…
You don’t reject truth.
You just blend it.
Most people don’t walk away from truth overnight.
They drift into:
“almost truth”
And “almost truth” is the hardest to detect.
Because it still looks right.
Stop asking:
“Is this wrong?”
Start asking:
“Is this fully aligned with truth?”
Because something can be:
acceptable
popular
even spiritual-looking
…and still not be rooted in Christ.
What you tolerate today…
will shape what you believe tomorrow.
And what you believe…
will shape how you live.
Where in your life have you accepted “almost truth”?
Lord,
Give me discernment beyond appearances.
Where I’ve accepted things that are not aligned with You—
show me clearly.
Sharpen my spirit.
Strengthen my conviction.
Help me to choose truth, even when it’s uncomfortable.
I don’t want what just looks right.
I want what is right.
Amen.
