Be A Witness
From: Pastor Johan Lourens -
"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth…Acts 1:8.”
Before Jesus ascended to heaven to sit at the right hand of God with the devil at His footstool, He commissioned each of us to be His witnesses upon receipt of burden-removing, yoke-destroying power, and the Holy Spirit. Witness is not just a Harrison Ford movie set in Amish country. A witness is someone who will testify in a cause, who will affirm a fact or event, who will furnish proof of something evidenced by conduct or speech. We are not to keep quiet and assume new names in some federal witness protection program. The agape love of God shed in our hearts by the Holy Spirit will compel us to share the good news of salvation with others, especially those who are hurting, oppressed, broke, sick or lonely.
We'll be concerned for the lost, the unsaved, the backslidden and want them to experience the same peace, love, victory, and joy we have found through the precious Blood of Jesus. By witnessing to others, we also strengthen our own faith. The way we live in obedience to the Word of God is our most powerful witness for God. This is where people can see our faith in action. Let love overcome any fear that we may have about witnessing for perfect love casts out fear.
Don't be like AT&T, reach out and touch someone and tell them what God has done for us. God used Andrew to win his brother Peter the fisherman to Jesus in John 1:40-42. We are humans and we make mistakes, but God has chosen Witnesses R Us to save the lost and to God belongs the glory. Yours in Christ, Pastor Johan Lourens
