The Romans Road
On a dusty road all souls must tread,
Where truth awakens the heart long dead,
A whisper rises, both stern and clear:
“All have sinned”—the verdict we fear.
No righteous claim, no boast, no plea,
For all fall short of God’s purity.
The weight of guilt, a crushing load,
Revealed along this narrow road.
“For sin’s wages is death,” it cries—
A solemn truth none can deny.
Yet just beyond that dark decree,
A gift appears—so full, so free.
Eternal life, by grace alone,
Not earned by deeds, nor blood, nor bone,
But given through Christ, the spotless Lamb,
The great “I AM,” the great “I AM.”
For God displayed His love so wide,
That Christ for sinners bled and died.
While we were lost, condemned in night,
He bore our sin, became our light.
No greater love could heaven impart—
The King of glory pierced in heart.
Now hear the call, so loud, so near:
“Confess the Lord, believe sincere.”
That God has raised Him from the grave,
And you shall live—He came to save.
For with the heart one trusts, made right,
With lips confession brings to light.
“Whoever calls”—O wondrous grace—
Shall find in Him a saving place.
So walk this road, don’t turn aside,
Where mercy and truth now coincide.
From sin’s dark end to heaven’s door—
The Romans Road… and life evermore.
