THE SOVEREIGNTY OF PRAISE
Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his.
Daniel 2:20
Praise is the highest form of trust because it acknowledges that even when we are in the dark, God is in the light. Both the wisdom to know the path and the power to walk it are firmly in His hands. Choosing to praise God regardless of our circumstances is a true sacrifice. It is acknowledging that, no matter what is happening, we stand on the truth of His character.
Sometimes, we would rather wait until we understand a situation before we offer God praise. We want to see the solution first. But Daniel offered this prayer while he was still in the midst of a life-or-death situation where his very survival depended on a miracle. We can find peace by admitting we need Him, acknowledging who He is, and clinging to Him no matter the cost.
Many people have the power to do something but lack the wisdom to do it correctly. Others have the wisdom, but they lack the power to change their circumstances. In God, these two are perfectly joined. God knows exactly what to do, and He has the strength to see it through.
Does it feel like you are out of options and out of strength?
We can follow Daniel’s lead and choose to praise Him in the middle of the storm. Instead of scrolling for answers or pacing in worry, spend a few minutes simply praising God for His character. Praise doesn't necessarily change the storm, but it changes our position within it.
When we praise Him, we are aligning ourselves with the Source of everything we need. We don’t praise Him to manipulate Him, we praise Him because He is worthy, regardless of what we are facing.
God bless you!
