• The Lord is King! By his resurrection, Jesus has demonstrated his rule. He alone is worthy to receive our honor and glory and blessing.
• The Savior reigns! The dominion of Christ begins in our hearts—that is where God’s reign first takes hold—but it extends throughout all time and space.
• His kingdom cannot fail! Whereas human empires and civilizations crumble and fall, the rule of God can never fail because it is founded upon love and truth.
• Christ sits at God’s right hand! Christ already rules, but his reign is not yet fully realized. We await the time when all will submit to the authority of his love.
• Christ all his foes shall quell! Christ has dealt decisively with sin and evil in this world, but even more importantly he seeks to restore all things through God’s grace; he thoroughly overwhelms evil but displacing it with love.
• Jesus the judge shall come! For those in Christ, the coming of Jesus the judge elicits a most glorious hope. As Julian of Norwich affirmed, the judgment of Jesus means that all will be well.
