Sermon: The Living Bread and the Health of Your Body
Scripture: John 6:44-51

In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells us something amazing: "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever." This is a beautiful promise for our souls, but it is also a powerful lesson for our physical health.

1. You Are What You Eat
We have all heard the saying, "You are what you eat." If we eat junk, we feel like junk. Our bodies become sluggish, our minds get foggy, and we get sick more easily. Jesus calls Himself the "Living Bread." This means He is the source of life. When we invite Jesus into our daily routine, we start to value our lives more. We begin to treat our bodies like a gift. Choosing "living" foods—like fresh fruits, vegetables, and clean water—is a way to honor the life God gave you.

2. Spiritual Hunger and Physical Cravings
Often, we overeat or choose unhealthy snacks because we are feeling empty inside. We are stressed, lonely, or tired, and we look to sugar or heavy oils to give us a quick "fix." But Jesus says that He is the bread that truly satisfies. When you feed your spirit first through a few minutes of quiet prayer or reading the Bible, that "empty" feeling often goes away. You will find that you have more self-control over your appetite because your heart is already full of His peace.

3. The Strength to Keep Moving
Jesus mentions that the ancestors ate manna in the desert and died, but the bread He gives brings eternal life. This reminds us that while we must care for our bodies, we shouldn't worry excessively. Anxiety is a major cause of sickness. By trusting in Jesus, the "Living Bread," we lower our stress levels. This trust gives us the energy to stay active and the strength to keep moving, even when we feel tired.

Today, let us remember that health is a balance of spiritual food and physical care. When you nourish your soul with the Living Bread, you give your body the best environment to thrive and stay strong.

A Short Prayer for Vitality
Lord Jesus, thank You for being the Living Bread that sustains me. Grant me the wisdom to choose foods that strengthen my body and the grace to seek You when my soul is hungry. Keep me vibrant and healthy. Amen.
