Yvette Flunder is facing backlash after saying the Bible has become “problematic,” suggesting some pages should be removed, and claiming Christianity needs a “third testament.”
Speaking at the 2026 Samuel Dewitt Procter Conference, she criticized passages such as “slaves obey your masters” and “let the women keep silent,” arguing they reflect “words about God” rather than the actual Word of God.
Her remarks quickly went viral online, drawing nearly 500,000 views on X. April Chapman responded, “You don’t need a Third Testament. You need first-rate repentance,” calling Flunder’s comments rebellion rather than boldness.
Rich Bitterman also condemned the speech, saying her words “should make every Christian shudder.” He argued that rejecting Scripture removes “the only trustworthy witness to Christ” and leaves hurting people without truth or hope.
