Salt can speak of two very different things in Scripture.

In one place, salt was used to make a city barren, unusable, and unfruitful. Abimelech destroyed a city and sowed it with salt, marking it as a place of judgement and desolation.

But in another place, God told the prophet Elisha to take salt and throw it into poisoned water.

What should have made things worse became the very thing God used to bring healing.

That is the difference between man’s way and God’s way.

Man can take something and use it to destroy, curse, and make barren.

But God can take that very same thing and use it to heal, restore, and bring life.

The power was not in the salt.

The power was in the word of the Lord.

Elisha did not follow human logic. He listened to God. He trusted God’s wisdom over man’s understanding. And because he obeyed, the water was healed.

God’s ways are not our ways.

He can take what looks harmful and turn it for good.
He can take what was meant to make a place barren and use it to make that place fruitful again.
He can take the very thing associated with judgement and turn it into a sign of restoration.

The difference is trust.

Trusting His voice.
Trusting His wisdom.
Trusting that when God speaks, even the impossible can be healed.
