Secrets of Your Heart
Many Christians have the perception that if they want to go to heaven, then they have to get their quota of “good deeds” done - as if they are earning their entrance fee to paradise. But no one can ‘earn’ or ‘buy’ their way to heaven. Salvation is free to all who have surrendered their hearts to Jesus! But that doesn’t mean we are off the hook when it comes to compassion toward our fellow man. Jesus set a wonderful example when He was here on earth about how to treat others. He was tender and kind with everyone - even those who were cruel and mistreated Him. He never spoke in anger or disgust - but only with love in His heart. The closer our relationship is to Christ, the more we become like Him. We will want to be kind and generous to others - not for “show” or to get compliments about how great we are - but rather because we truly love as Jesus loves! If we are just needing an “ego boost,” and performing acts of kindness for the wrong reasons - not only will God know, but it will become obvious to others as well - because our actions betray the secrets in our hearts!
