Not by Man’s Armour

In 1 Samuel 17, we read the story of David. He was already chosen by God to be the one who would stand against Goliath but before the battle, another voice tried to speak.

It sounded reasonable. Logical.

“Put on Saul’s armour.”

For a moment, David listened.

But something in him knew this wasn’t how God had prepared him. This wasn’t what had carried him through the lion and the bear. This wasn’t the way God had taught his hands to fight.

So David took it off.

He removed what fear and doubt had tried to place on him, and he stepped forward with what God had already given him, a sling and five smooth stones.

No armour.
No sword.
Just trust.

Sometimes the enemy will offer things that look right, even wise.

But if they are not from God, they will only weigh you down.

God has already equipped you.

Scripture says He is your rear guard. You don’t need what the world says you need you need what He has given.

The helmet of salvation.
The belt of truth.
The shield of faith.
The sword of the Spirit.

These are not seen, but they are stronger than anything man can make.

Trust what God has placed in your hands.
