My perspective on Lk 9:23 and
1 Cor 15:31.

Both of these verses are frequently misinterpreted as a command to believers to 'die to self or die daily' in a spiritual or ascetic sense.

Here’s the truth:

You took up your cross the day you believed. That was the moment your 'old self' was crucified with Christ—once and for all.

When Paul said he 'died daily,' he wasn’t talking about a spiritual checklist; he was talking about facing literal death and persecution for the gospel.

We aren’t called to 'die to self or die daily'; we’re called to walk out of the grave and live freely!

In all of Paul’s letters to the churches—written after the resurrection—he never instructs believers to 'take up our cross' or 'die to self daily' as a ritual.

Jesus is not on the cross anymore, and neither are you. If Christ isn’t dying daily, and you’re IN Him, then you aren’t either!
So, stop clocking into the cross daily.

Rom 6:11 doesn’t tell us to 're-die' daily. It tells us to reckon (consider) ourselves dead to sin.

Jesus didn’t die to burden us with a daily quota of 'dying to self daily'. 'No!' He died so that His vibrant life could flow through us.

This is what I would describe:
The burnout cure!
