“Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:3

When Russia went to war with Afghanistan, I was seriously injured and became disabled after a military transport vehicle ran over me. I was treated for a long time in a hospital, and when I was released, my wife accepted me back with open arms. However, bloody scenes from the war kept appearing in my mind, tormenting me greatly and ruining my life. The aggression building up inside me resulted in violent fights from time to time. For the next four years, I used drugs for relief, starting with small doses, and gradually moving to larger ones. Finally, my wife couldn’t stand it anymore and left, my family fell apart, and my health was shaken. I’d reached a crisis point in every way.

Then, one day, I remembered my grandmother, who had often turned to Someone invisible for help and had often advised me to do the same. I understood she was talking about God, and with nothing to lose, I turned to my last resort—the Almighty—and asked Him to help restore my ruined life. It was a cry from my heart—Lord, if You exist, please help me!—and the answer was swift. He gave me the power to overcome my drug addiction. Then I found my wife, apologized to her and asked her to return.

One of the most wonderful proofs of God’s help came as a dream a few days later. It was as if I was standing near a temple, among a crowd of people who were waiting for Jesus Christ. As He left the temple in shining clothes, He called to me, and I answered His call. The crowd of thousands parted, letting me walk to Him.

As I approached, I saw His benevolent smile. “Lord, forgive me for not knowing You before,” I said, trembling. Then I suddenly realized He did not blame me. On the contrary, incredible warmth and love emanated from Jesus to me!

When I woke up, I realized I’d been crying in my sleep—my whole pillow was wet with tears. That dream gave me the momentum to search for God and a church where they studied the Bible and looked forward to the return of Jesus Christ to this earth. When I found that church, I began to attend, was baptized, and became a member.

The first part of my dream has come true, and now I look forward to the second part. I believed God like a child, and Jesus responded to my faith!
