A NUGGET OF TRUTH.
Did Jesus really preach to the dead?

Many read 1 Peter 3:18–20 and assume Christ descended into the grave to speak to lost souls. But Peter tells us exactly when this preaching took place—in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared.

Christ was not preaching to the dead.
He was preaching by the Spirit to the living.

The phrase “spirits in prison” is not describing souls beneath the earth, but people in bondage to sin—just as Scripture elsewhere uses this language.

David prayed:
“Bring my soul out of prison” (Ps. 142:7)

Paul spoke of being brought into
“captivity to the law of sin” (Rom. 7:23)

And the Bible is clear about death:

“The dead know nothing” (Eccl. 9:5)
“In death there is no remembrance of You” (Ps. 6:5)

There is no second chance beyond the grave.

Christ pleads with the living.
The question is—will we listen?
