Ask In Jesus’ Name.

“If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” John 14:14
During my college years in the Philippines, I was involved in missionary training. I enjoyed learning more about Jesus and serving the Lord and others, as well. It brought so much joy to my life that I contemplated quitting school. When I told my mother that I wanted to become a full-time missionary, her response was, “Let me tell your father about it.”
My father was working abroad in order to provide for our family’s needs. When he heard about my plan, he told my mother that I needed to finish college because education was the only inheritance he could give me. Since Ephesians 6:1 says, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right,” I chose to obey my parents and finish college.
In the course of my last year, a Youth Congress was being held during Christmas break in Cagayan de Oro, southeast of Manila. I really wanted to attend, but there were things to consider. First, I didn’t have the money to pay for my fare and food; second, my teacher gave an A to those who attended the last day of school before Christmas break. So I asked the Lord to help me with my situation.
I knew for sure that missionary training is more important than having the highest grade in school, but where would I get $100 for my trip? I told my mother about it, but she couldn’t help me, so even though I didn’t like to solicit money from people, I decided to send an email to my aunt, who lived in Canada.
My aunt replied and sent me the money I needed. God had answered my prayer! I was able to attend the Youth Congress, and my teacher still gave me the highest grade since I passed all the requirements. Little did I know that God was working tremendously and miraculously in my life.
Friends, our finite minds will never comprehend how powerful and faithful God is! The only thing we have to do is believe His words and trust His will. The Bible says, “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” Let’s not take for granted the power of asking in Jesus’ name. Start calling on His name and appeal your petitions. If God can answer my prayer, He can answer yours, too!
