Dear Father,
I came across a wedding ceremony between two women, and I was shocked. It’s not the first time I have seen something like this, but this time, I knew one of the women involved. There have been many reports as to why people of the same sex become attracted to each other. While some reasons are linked to traumatic pasts, others believe they were born that way, and still others desire the freedom to express their choices.
Today, I found a prophecy in Scripture which says: “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days, and people will be lovers of themselves.” It is shocking to see the questionable heights we have reached in exercising our will, and how easily what was once considered wrong can become acceptable.
In striving to give expression to sinful desires, the enemy treads on what seems like legal ground. What better way to legitimize an abominable act than to present strong, relatable reasons? For instance, after being raped by a woman, a lady may become attracted to other women--empathetic, emotive, perhaps even understandable, yet still a subtle framework of deceit, and, in a way, a fulfillment of prophecy.
When clouded by emotions arising from traumatic experiences, we may find it difficult to recognize deception. What was once rejected becomes normalized and gradually woven into culture. Father, open my eyes to recognize the lies within my reasoning.
