Put On the Mind of Christ.

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:5

The battle of the mind starts with us. What we see, hear, and think about rests within our mind and reaches into our heart.

Let’s think for a second. If we eat things that are bad for us, we disrupt our body functions. We need healthy food to nourish our body and soul—and the same goes with what we put into our mind. What we put in there can pull us away from God. If we put earthly things in there, it becomes our everyday life. But if we infuse our mind with spiritual thoughts and heavenly things, we will think in heavenly ways and become Christlike.

Romans 12:2 says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Someone noted that the Christian whose heart is stayed upon Jesus cannot be overcome, for the mind of Christ seals us into safety when we only think of Him, calling on Him for help. 1 Peter 1:13 says, “Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” Our mind is our foundation; and if we build on that rock which is Christ Jesus, we build upon the Savior of the world! If we keep our mind on Jesus we will never fail and never fall.

1 Chronicles 28:9 says, “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.”

Philippians 3:19–21 warns of those “whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things. For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.”

So let us strive for a transformed life of obedience and the will to grow more like Christ. Then we can face every challenge that comes our way and live the life of a servant, carrying our cross daily, and serving our God, who is merciful, loving, and kind.

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.” Isaiah 26:3–4.
