From a Payer of Wages to a Steward of Destiny. A View from the Kitchen Table

At exactly 6:00 PM tonight, one of your employees will sit at their kitchen table. The house might be quiet, perhaps a child is already asleep in the next room, but on that table sits a stack of bills and a calculator.

They have given you eight hours of their life today. They used their hands, their intellect, and their emotional energy to advance your vision. But as they look at the numbers on that table, a sobering question arises: Is the compensation they received from you enough to honor the life they are living for God?.

I wrote my new book, "The Steward's Paycheck", because for too long, we have operated with a "sacred-secular" divide. We pray for our businesses on Sunday but pay for our businesses on Monday using a completely different set of values.

The Theology of the Paycheck

In the modern marketplace, we are taught to look at the "Market Rate". We consult benchmarks and government minimums, telling ourselves that if we are "legal," we are "fair". But for the Kingdom Steward, "legal" is the floor, not the ceiling.

When you hit "approve" on a payroll run, you aren't just moving numbers between bank accounts. You are making a theological statement about the value of an image-bearer of God. You are a gatekeeper of God’s provision.

In "The Steward's Paycheck", I explore a framework that defies traditional logic:

The Kitchen Table Audit: Why we must audit our impact, asking if our employees are one flat tire away from a crisis.

The Vineyard Dilemma: How to balance Justice (the contract) with Generosity (the person).

Leadership in the Desert: Maintaining integrity and being the first to sacrifice when the "brook dries up" and the bank account is empty.

Beyond the Bank Transfer

I’ve learned that if your leadership ends at the bank transfer, you are merely renting a workforce. To truly inspire loyalty, we must pay in currencies the bank cannot hold: Validation, Growth, Rest, and Shepherding.

When we shift from a "Payer of Wages" to a "Steward of Destiny," our payroll is no longer a cost center; it is a garden of seeds. It becomes a testimony.

Join the Movement

This is more than a book; it is a movement to restore honor to the marketplace, one paycheck at a time. I invite you to download and read "The Steward's Paycheck " to begin your own transition from managing resources to stewarding destiny.

Let's make sure your payroll is a good testimony. Because you, too, have a Master in heaven.
