Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.
I am blessed to be able to attend church with one of my favorite teachers in school. She holds a very dear place in my heart. She even told me that I am not allowed to discuss my retirement with her because that means that she is old. She has also told me that she is proud of who I have become. That she knew I was someone special when I was in her class. As her student, growing up in not-so-worldly favorable conditions, and the view of my hometown not so nice about my family, that compliment was quite the accomplishment for me. The recognition at such a young age, and how I did not disappoint.
Yesterday I had the honor of seeing one of my students glow in their new assignment. A confidence that engulfed them. A presence of accomplishment. Yet, a humility of I am not sure. It was a beautiful sight to behold as I am leaving that arena of my life. I now understand what my teacher must have felt and seen in me. Watching them conduct themselves in such a professional manner created a pride in me for them, like a parent to a child.
The world is full of those who will knock us down, hold us down, keep us down, and never let us forget that we are down. As I have said many times, it is up to us to either live by the world standard of knock-down, drag-out or to see His beauty. Yesterday was a beautiful day on so many levels. The temperature. The sunlight. Less wind, at least in the earlier hours. The freshness of a new day, week. Then the blessing of being able to witness my student standing tall in a position they never thought they could accomplish.
God knows how to place things in our lives to see Him. We need only open our eyes. I have only one or two times questioned my retirement time. In the wake of those questions, God has shown me exactly what I needed to see to know that I was correct in this decision. Each of those times was quite subtle, and if I were not looking around with my eyes open, I would have missed them. But I did not.
Everything in our lives is seasonal. Like the four seasons of the year, we get a season of this, a season of that, a season here, a season there … My season at my job was complete, and a new season in my life is beginning. Understand that you will go through seasons. Some you will be grateful for, some not so much in the beginning, but will understand in the aftermath. Take each of those seasons and run to win the race.
Be blessed.
**And now the Lord says-he who formed me in the womb to be his servant to bring Jacob back to him and gather Israel to himself, for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord and my God has been my strength - --Isaiah 49:5
