A Nugget of Truth.
THE MARK OF THE BEAST IS ABOUT AUTHORITY
The final issue in earth’s history is not merely about a day. It is about worship, obedience, and authority.
God’s seal is found in His law, within the Sabbath commandment, pointing to Him as Creator of heaven and earth. But prophecy also warns that another power, the Roman Catholic Papacy, would rise and seek to place its own authority above the authority of God.
Daniel 7:25 says this power would:
“think to change times and laws.”
This is why the Sabbath/Sunday issue matters. It reveals a deeper question: Will we follow the commandments of God, or the commandments of men?
The Catholic Record openly stated:
“The Bible still teaches that the Sabbath or Saturday should be kept holy. There is no authority in the New Testament for the substitution of Sunday for Saturday… There is no authority in the Bible for abrogating this Commandment, or for transferring its observance to another day of the week… The Church is above the Bible; and this transference of Sabbath observance from Saturday to Sunday is proof positive of that fact.”
— The Catholic Record, September 1, 1923
This is not a small claim. It is a direct claim of authority above Scripture.
But the Bible says:
“We ought to obey God rather than men.”
— Acts 5:29
Jesus warned:
“In vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”
— Matthew 15:9
When truth is made plain, we become responsible for how we respond to it.
“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”
— James 4:17
The mark of the beast is not simply about worshipping on a different day in ignorance. It becomes an issue when human authority and man-made law are knowingly accepted above the law and authority of God.
The question is not only, “Which day do I keep?”
The real question is:
Whose authority do I obey — God’s, or man’s?
