Godly Moms
“I have no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in the truth…3 John 3.”
Christian moms are often misunderstood, considered old-fashioned, or stuck in what the world sees as outdated traditional non-progressive values. Yet, the Lord says, “A woman who fears the Lord shall be praised.” A godly mom’s desire is for her children to one day walk in the truth. With this passion in her heart, she willingly imparts her life to her children.
She knows if their foundation is found upon Jesus Christ, they can make it through any difficulty life may bring. Although a Christian mom may grow weary in the task of being a mom, she never grows weary of the task. She knows her children are her ministry and an honor bestowed on her from the sovereign Hand of God.
A godly mom blessed with more than one child does not have a favorite but loves each child uniquely and unconditionally. She joyfully accepts their differences as a special handprint from God designed to achieve their calling. She, better than any, knows the heart of her child and how best to share “the truth in love”. “She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.”
Throughout her life, a Christian mom shares her love for the Lord and her husband as an example for her children. She never ceases to pray and commit their life each day to the Hands of the Lord. And in the face of obstacles, setbacks, and discouragement, she perseveres. She knows the Lord causes all things to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes.
A godly mom is a gift from the Lord. She stands on the promises of God. Even when others give up on us, a godly mom never will. She is the best example God can give us of one whom “With all lowliness and meekness with longsuffering, forbears with one another in love” (Ephesians 4:3). She seeks the Lord’s best for us and not only labored to give us birth but labors until Christ is formed in us.
Seasons may come and go but a mother’s love never ceases. When her eyes are weakened with age and her body broken down by the ravages of time, her dying wish will be that we know the joy of the Lord as our strength.
On this coming Mother’s Day 2026, if you are blessed with a godly mom, you are the fruit of her womb and the product of her hands. Whether she is in heaven or living, there is an honor you can bestow upon her which will last for eternity. Live your life for the Lord!
