First we face all around us a social and political environment that endorses “political correctness,” New Age philosophy, “abortion rights,” and the excesses of modern psychotherapy (a preoccupation with self-esteem, considering everyone who has problems “a victim,” viewing sin as merely an addiction, etc.). Added to that, there is the increased tolerance of sexual promiscuity and marital infidelity, homosexuality as just an “alternate lifestyle,” and pornography as simply another “freedom of expression.” And on top of it all, we read about and hear of immorality, dishonesty, and corruption at the highest political levels. Unquestionably, such trends are unbiblical and sinful, destructive to individuals, and counter-productive to society as a whole. - JOHN MacARTHUR
