Whatever You Ask
Christians often get confused about what Jesus really meant when He said in Matthew 21:22, “And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” You could interpret this to mean that whatever you ask for, God will give it to you. If you want a million dollars, no problem, just pray and ask God for it! If you want a new car, a new job, a fancy vacation, or even healing from a terminal illness, God will make it happen! But here is what you need to know about prayer: When you pray, God answers according to what is best for you. He knows “everything” about you, especially what is good for you and what will make you happy. You can always pray and make your requests to God, but whatever you ask, don’t forget to include, “Your will be done!” If you knew the end from the beginning, you would never want it any other way . . . than God’s way! Sometimes, you might be impatient and feel that God is ignoring you, but don’t get discouraged because God never ignores you! He always hears, always answers, and His timing is always perfect. Remember that Jesus loves you more than anyone else ever could, and He longs to give you the desires of your heart, but ONLY if it is good for you! The Bible says in 1 John 5:14-15, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
