THE ANATOMY OF A BREAKING: I FOLLOWED A TRUE DISCIPLE-MAKING ROUTINE FOR 7 DAYS—HERE’S WHAT BROKE ME
Broadcast Date: May 15, 2026
Topic: The Raw Reality of the Crucible: Emotional, Spiritual, and Habitual Disruption
Scripture Foundation: Mark 3:14, Matthew 9:37-38, Luke 9:23
THE END OF THEOLOGY WITHOUT BIOLOGY
Saints of the Living God, I am stepping away from the pulpit today to speak to you from the surgical table of the Holy Ghost. We preach about discipleship. We write notes. We shout "Amen." But I recently locked myself into a rigid, tracked, uncompromising 7-day apostolic disciple-making routine. I utilized strict daily habit tracking, eliminating every ounce of digital noise, and forced my schedule to mirror the demands of the First Century Church.
I went into this 7-day crucible to sharpen my edge. I did not expect it to completely break me.
If you think discipleship is just reading a daily devotional and being nice to your neighbor, you are dangerously deceived. True discipleship is a violent disruption of your flesh. Here is the raw, unfiltered truth of what happens when you actually track your obedience.
THE EXPOSITION: THE DIARY OF A BROKEN VESSEL
1. Days 1-2: The Emotional Disruption (The Agony of the Unsaved)
“And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach...” (Mark 3:14)
For the first 48 hours, my routine demanded that I look at every person I encountered—not as a contact, a customer, or a stranger—but as an eternal soul hovering over heaven or hell. I forced myself to initiate spiritual conversations.
What Broke Me: The sheer, crushing weight of the lost. When you stop looking at your phone and start looking into the eyes of humanity, the emotional toll is devastating. I wept publicly. I realized how much of my daily energy was spent on self-preservation rather than soul-winning. I physically felt the terrifying reality of the scarcity of the sickle. We have millions of believers, but almost no one is actually reaping!
2. Days 3-4: The Habit Disruption (The Yoke of the Labourer)
“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)
I instituted a strict digital and physical habit protocol: 4:00 AM intercession, absolute zero entertainment, fasting until sunset, and documenting every hour of my day.
What Broke Me: The exposure of my own hidden sloths. The tracker did not lie. It revealed how many minutes I historically wasted on things that carry zero eternal weight. I realized that my flesh hates boundaries. The Holy Spirit confronted me with a brutal truth: Labourers, not workers, are needed. A worker punches a clock and wants a comfortable break. A labourer is consumed by the urgency of the harvest and stays in the field until the sun goes down. My habits were disrupted because my inner "worker" had to die so the "labourer" could take over.
3. Days 5-7: The Spiritual Disruption (The Death of Pretense)
“Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.” (Matthew 9:37-38)
By day five, the exhaustion of the flesh gave way to the terrifying clarity of the Spirit. I wasn't just praying for people; I was travailing in the Spirit.
What Broke Me: The realization of how shallow our modern intercession is. When you are truly making disciples and pouring your life into the messy, broken lives of others, your prayers change from "Lord, bless my day" to "Lord, if You don't intervene, this soul will perish!" The pretense of "casual Christianity" was burned to ash.
THE SOUL-PIERCING REALITY: ARE YOU WILLING TO BE RUINED?
This 7-day experiment ruined me for "normal" church.
Apostolic Truth: If your current spiritual routine is not disrupting your emotions, altering your spending habits, and violently rearranging your calendar, you are not a disciple. You are an audience member.
We want the mantle of Elijah without the cave. We want the power of Pentecost without the upper room waiting. We want the harvest without holding the sickle.
YOUR APOSTOLIC MANDATE (CALL TO ACTION)
I am not calling you to an event; I am calling you to the crucible. The Word of Light and Life Mission is declaring war on spectator Christianity.
ENTER THE CRUCIBLE: I challenge you to set your own strict, 7-day Disciple-Making Routine. No entertainment. Pray for the lost daily. Share the gospel daily. Track your habits mercilessly.
FACE THE MIRROR: Write down exactly what breaks in you during these 7 days. Is it your patience? Your pride? Your addiction to your phone?
PRAY FOR THE SCALPEL: Stop praying for comfort and start praying for the Holy Ghost to surgically remove the "worker" mentality from your heart.
DECLARE YOUR COMMITMENT: Tag three believers in the comments who are bold enough to take a 7-day disruption challenge.
PROPHETIC DECLARATION:
I decree that the anesthesia of religion is wearing off! I release the spirit of travail and holy disruption over your life! May the Lord break your heart for what breaks His! May your habits be completely hijacked by the urgency of the Kingdom! You will no longer sleep through the harvest! In the Mighty Name of Jesus!
COMMENT "I AM READY TO BE BROKEN" if you are stepping into the 7-Day Crucible!
