“Whoever has my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and reveal myself to them.” John 14:21 OBEDIENCE LEADS TO REVELATION Jesus includes a remarkable promise here: whoever obeys him out of love will be loved by the Father, and Jesus will reveal himself to them. Obedience opens a door to personal revelation. “I will reveal myself to them”—the progressive knowledge of Christ is linked to obedience. This is because the intimate, personal, living revelation of Christ is given to those whose hearts belong to him. Obedience prepares the way for revelation. The path to authentic spiritual growth is therefore: love → obedience → revelation: the more you love and obey him, the more he reveals himself to you; the more he reveals himself, the more you love and obey him.
