Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.
I had forgotten what it was like to get up this early and what kind of state my mind is in when I do. This morning’s episode of “What weird thing will happen in my storytelling mind” … a show of the oddest caliber … a mixture of Grey’s Anatomy, Star Trek (any of them), Marshalls, and Fire Country. Characters from all these shows showed up in my head to create a performance to beat all … thankfully, I only have residual effects of that wake-up call. Haha.
My assumption for such a lineup of fast-paced shows is that I have a busy morning…starting with getting up before the sun … something I could do regularly … in my sleep. Haha. However, today is a special day. I get to say goodbye (ish) to my office and deliver to them my Train Wreck special breakfast. Today, I look forward to whatever the Lord has in store for me. Where today is an end, it is also a beginning.
For the last month I have been on leave. My pay has not changed and we kind of were just like whatever, I have had a ‘safety net’ as it were. Today is a bit different. Today begins the true faith in what God has laid out for me. Today is the first day of the next chapter. Like most, I can be routine-oriented very quickly, and a change in that routine can send me for a loop. Most times it does not an extremely long time for me to set in the new routine, but there is most definitely an adjustment period. Usually a very vocal one. Ask ANY of my bosses.
Change is good. Change is necessary. Without change, the enemy can seep his way into our routine unnoticed and quietly change our perspective in the name of what is good. At the time that change seems appropriate and necessary, however, after a few ‘modifications’ we are now walking an entirely different path. If you think this is a large overview … look at the world outside your window. It has been going on since the beginning of time.
Today I begin with new steps, with new ideas, with new vigor ready to meet the Holy Spirit wherever he calls me. Today I step out in real faith. Today … I am retired from the 40-hour work week and start a brand-new life service.
I would like to encourage you to take a step back and look around yourself. Are you stuck in a rut of routine where everything is the same, but it’s not? Have you noticed a slight change in your walk that, if you honestly look at how you witnessed two years ago, is it the same now, or weaker, or is it stronger? Older Christians seem to fall in a rut of one way of doing things. We tend to only be a one-way street. Newer Christians are afraid of making a mistake. But … here is an idea … kind of radical … what if both of us quit thinking and start listening. I’m in … how about you?
Be blessed.
**But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.—Isaiah 40:31
