Daily pearls from the shore

The Dead and Jesus

How many times are we made to or we choose to believe as parents or families that our children or loved ones are too dead as they go too far away with their wrong choices?

We might have tried our best to bring them back more than once, and it seemed like they wandered further down into the woods.

We tend to give up. Some of us even choose to declare the situation dead or irreversible because of how it looks - too gruesome to be treated any further.

But Luke 7:12, 14-15 shows
“As he (Jesus) approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.”
Luke 8: 49-50 shows
“Your daughter is dead,” he said. “Don’t bother the teacher anymore.” Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”
Can we see how no situation is dead for God? Even if it is declared dead (as often the world is quick to jump to conclusions), whether physically or spiritually, it is merely a challenge for God's might. He moves into dead situations and speaks life.

A dead son rises; a dead daughter wakes up. What a great hope this brings!

Some may be deeply dead, stuck in addictions, depressions, ungodly relationships, toxic friendships or even physical or mental sicknesses and it may seem like they have made their homes seem like graves, but a dead and buried Lazarus always comes out at one shout from Jesus. And they all can too.

Whether it's you finding yourself in a situation, a sin or a choice that looks beyond recovery or a loved one that seems too lost to turn back, nothing stops Jesus from saying the word, and there is life again, there is hope again. He doesn't give up. We may or we often do, but He doesn't.

Let's not lose hope, let's not give up, let's not leave dead staying dead.
