The God Who Draws Near
Scripture (NKJV):
“But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all Your works.” — Psalm 73:28
There are days when God feels very close, and there are days when life feels heavy, distracting, and dry. Yet the beautiful truth of Scripture is this: God does not move away from His children. He remains faithful, steady, and near even when emotions change.
Psalm 73 was written by a man who struggled deeply in his heart. He looked around and became discouraged by the prosperity of the wicked and the burdens of life. But everything changed when he entered the presence of God. His perspective shifted from temporary things to eternal truth.
Sometimes the greatest need in our lives is not for circumstances to change immediately, but for our hearts to return to the presence of the Lord.
God invites you near today:
Near enough to cast your burdens on Him.
Near enough to confess hidden sin.
Near enough to rest instead of striving.
Near enough to hear His voice through His Word.
Jesus made this closeness possible through the cross. Because of His sacrifice, we are not distant strangers trying to earn God's attention. We are welcomed children who can come boldly before Him.
If your heart feels weary today, do not run from God—run to Him. Open your Bible even if your mind feels scattered. Pray even if the words feel small. Worship even if tears accompany the song. Often the Lord does His deepest work in quiet moments of surrender.
And remember this: the closer you walk with Christ, the more your life becomes a testimony to others who need hope.
Prayer
Father, thank You for drawing near to me even when my heart is weak. Help me seek You above the distractions and pressures of this world. Restore joy, peace, and confidence in Your presence. Let my life reflect Jesus today, and give me opportunities to speak of Your goodness to others. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Today's Challenge
Spend 10 uninterrupted minutes alone with God today — no phone, no distractions, just prayer and Scripture. Ask Him to reveal one area where He wants you to trust Him more deeply.
