In the Cool of the Garden

In the cool of the garden,
I hear Your footsteps,
as though walking on air,
coming near.

You call me close
to have fellowship with me.

Your ways I will not despise.
I will walk with You
under the shadow of Your wings.

Just and true are Your words of life;
they hold my heart.

Though all forsake me
and turn away,
I will trust You,
for You will never let me go.

Wisdom is found
in Your words of life.
They give courage and strength.

You shine Your light in my heart,
showing me my true self,
causing me to run to You,
not hide.

In Your presence,
I get lost
in a place of safety and assurance.

I find peace and rest
when I trust in Your ways,
though the earth shakes
and the walls feel
as though they will fall on me.

You call me closer,
deeper,
until all the turmoil fades
in the beauty of Your presence.
