#Day 1 Series on the Coming down of the Holy Spirit
THE PROMISE THAT PRECEDES THE POWER
“And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”
— Luke 24:49
The resurrected Jesus speaks to his disciples. Everything has been accomplished… but the mission has not yet begun. Because there was a promise hanging in the air.
God never begins with power, but with a promise.
The promise is a seed of God planted in a heart that learns to wait and that hopes in God alone.
The Greek word for “clothed” means to be fully clothed, enveloped. This is not a simple visitation, but a total immersion.
Before I seek to manifest the Spirit, do I live in the awareness of His promise, or am I impatient, desiring only power to satisfy my own interests ?
What God desires is that we wait for His promise, that we be filled with His Spirit, and that we manifest His nature by bearing fruit for His glory and the cause of the Kingdom.
