Pride and Persistence

The way world pushes us, we are wired to be self-reliant and self-exaltating. To some extent it works. But living in such manner also cultivates an environment for pride.

This pride can then put barriers for us. We miss out on lot because our pride comes in our way to reach out and ask. We might try once and if we don’t get response, we simply leave it.

The reason is we are not humble enough to acknowledge that there is something that we need which is under someone else’s authority.

Our prideful hearts don’t want to ask again and again because it hurts our hard headedness birthed out of pride.

The thing is it doesn’t stop with our day-to-day life decisions.

It intrudes our spiritual beings. The same pride gets in our way to relationship with our God, Our heavenly father, our keeper and Provider.

We ask God for something and pray and if God doesn’t respond in our accordance, we simply don’t find it worth to ask, pray or believe again.

It is indirect declaration that God might not grant the request or if He even cares.

Philippians 4:6 says,
“Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

Matthew 15:28 says,
“Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.”

Luke 18:5 again says’
“yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’ ”

In both scenarios, it’s the persistence that was rewarded as faith.

Pride hinders outcomes because prideful heart has unbelief seated in the core.

Persistence carries a deeply rooted faith that the petitioner will get what he/she seeks.
