I closed my eyes to dream,
to travel to places
I had yet to see.

In my dreams,
I could get lost
in a world unlike my reality,
a place where I could win
and be free.

But with the waking dawn,
the dreamland vanished
without a trace,
and my heart longed
for something new,
a place of peace and safety
that the waking moments
could not seem to hold.

To live a life of dreams
was no life at all,
for dreams faded.

My heart and soul
longed for a place of rest,
a place of comfort,
yet it always seemed
to escape my grasp.

Then I heard tell
of a place of rest,
where the heart is made new
and the Spirit soars
like an eagle,
free and majestic.

So I laid down
the dream world
to walk in reality
the place where love is flowing,
peace reigns,
and freedom flies.

In Your presence,
I no longer need to escape,
for Your love
is sweeter than any dream.

Your freedom does not disappear
without a trace
in the morning light.

I have found my place,
surrendered at Your feet.
