To the paradise section, Jesus went to meet the penitent thief after His death on the cross, and when He came back from paradise, He took all the captives that death had locked up there with Him, and locked up that compartment of the underworld. He now has the keys of death and hades and so the gates of hell shall not prevail against the church.
