When we are hungry, we know what to do.

We go and get food.
We grab something to drink.
We satisfy the craving.

But where do we go when our spirit is hungry?

Do we run to the world, or do we run to God?

Jesus said,

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.” Matthew 5:6

The question is not whether we are hungry.
The question is what we are feeding on.

Have we become a people who snack so much on the world that we have no room left to hunger for God?

We scroll.
We consume.
We chase comfort.
We fill every empty space with noise.

Yet our souls remain thirsty.

David cried out,

“O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You.” Psalm 63:1

Spiritual hunger is not a weakness.
It is an invitation.

It is God drawing us deeper.
Calling us away from temporary cravings and into eternal satisfaction.

The world may distract us for a moment, but only God can satisfy the soul.

Jesus said,

“I am the bread of life; whoever comes to Me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst.” John 6:35

So maybe the ache we feel is not something to silence.
Maybe it is something to surrender.

Maybe the hunger is holy.

“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.” 1 Peter 2:2

What are we truly hungry for?

The things of this world,
or the things of God?
