Introduction Mark 10:32–34 records Jesus' third major prediction of His coming suffering, death, and resurrection. As Jesus and His disciples continue traveling toward Jerusalem, the atmosphere becomes serious and intense. Jesus walks ahead of the disciples with determination, fully aware of what awaits Him. While the disciples are amazed and afraid, Jesus explains in greater detail the suffering He is about to endure. This passage reveals the courage, obedience, and mission of Jesus. He was not surprised by the cross or forced into suffering unwillingly. Jesus knowingly and willingly moved toward the sacrifice that would provide salvation for humanity.
