Many of us keep waiting for God to move first before we obey. We want an introduction before a conclusion, confirmation before commitment, and proof before movement. Yet Scripture repeatedly shows that God often moves after His people move in faith. The question is not whether God is able to move, but whether we are willing to trust Him enough to step out first.
God did not part the river before they moved. The priests had to step into the waters first. God is not obligated to part rivers for people unwilling to move forward by faith.
Faith is like stepping into a river before seeing a bridge appear. The current may look overwhelming, the risk may feel real, and fear may whisper "๐ณ๐ฆ๐ต๐ณ๐ฆ๐ข๐ต." Yet the miracle often waits on the other side of obedience. If God orders, He provides. That is the rhythm of faith: God speaks, we step, and He makes the way.
The Scriptures connect faith with action: “Faith without works is dead” (J๐๐ฆ๐๐ฌ ๐:๐๐). Not the other way around. Delayed obedience is still disobedience.
Fill the waterpots first like the servants at Cana before Christ turns water into wine (๐๐จ๐ก๐ง ๐:๐). Do not live like a boat permanently tied to the dock, never fulfilling its purpose. Step out of the boat like Peter before he walked on the water God did not call us merely to admire faith, but to walk in it.
Jesus did not wait for the world to become ready for Him. He stepped out of heaven’s glory into earth’s brokenness. “While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). He moved first in love, first in sacrifice, and first in grace. Through His finished work, we are not only forgiven—we are empowered to walk forward by faith.
What river has been stopping you—fear, finances, failure, or just the unknown? You do not need Christ merely to remove the obstacle — you need Him to walk through it with you. Will you take one step into the water today? Stop standing at the edge of obedience. Step out first and trust Him with what happens next.
Heavenly Father, forgive us for waiting in fear when You have already called us to move forward. Strengthen our faith to obey even when the path feels uncertain. Help us trust Your promises completely and walk boldly wherever Christ leads. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Remember, a dose of God’s Word a day will keep you going all day!
