GOD'S WORD FOR THE DAY
“Chosen by Mercy, Not by Merit”
Romans 9:16
“So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.”
This is the Word of God. Paul reminds us that our standing with God is never earned. Israel’s story proves it; God’s purpose stands because of His mercy, not our effort. We don’t work our way into His family. We’re welcomed by His choice and compassion.
When we grasp that salvation is mercy from start to finish, it kills pride and fuels worship. We stop striving to impress God and start resting in His grace. And that same mercy that chose us now sends us to show mercy to others.
May we live today humbled by His choosing, confident in His mercy, and eager to extend it. Amen.
