THE ADVENT TRUTH
“Why does God allow people to die?
Why are babies left orphaned?

If God stopped Satan in Job, why doesn’t He stop every tragedy?”

That’s one of the deepest and hardest questions a person can ask. And the Bible actually addresses it.

First, understand this clearly: death was NEVER God’s original plan.

Genesis shows a world with no pain, suffering, disease, funerals, or graves. Death entered this world through sin.

Romans 5:12 — “By one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin…”

The Bible repeatedly identifies Satan as the destroyer.

John 10:10 — “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…”

Hebrews 2:14 says Satan had “the power of death.”

So does Satan cause suffering and death? Yes. But the book of Job also shows something important: Satan is NOT equal with God. He operates under limits.

God allowed Satan to test Job, but He set boundaries.

Now here’s the important distinction:
Permission is NOT the same thing as authorship.

God allowing something temporarily in a fallen world does not mean He delights in it or personally causes every tragedy.

We live in a broken world damaged by thousands of years of sin. Disease, violence, war, abuse, disasters, and death are all evidence that humanity has separated itself from God’s perfect order.

Sometimes we want a simple explanation for every tragedy, but even Job never got a full explanation for everything he suffered.

But here’s what we DO know:

Jesus revealed the heart of God.

He healed the sick.
Raised the dead.
Comforted the brokenhearted.
And ultimately stepped into our suffering Himself at the cross.

Acts 10:38 says Jesus healed those “oppressed of the devil.”

Death is not God’s ultimate plan for humanity. In fact:

1 Corinthians 15:26 — “The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.”

Death is called an enemy.

And one day Jesus will destroy it forever.

Revelation 21:4 — “There shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying…”

Judge God by Jesus Christ, not by the brokenness of this fallen world.
