Did you know?
The Bible describes man in two very different conditions.
Without Christ, Scripture says there is “none righteous” (Romans 3:10). If we say we have no sin, “we deceive ourselves” (1 John 1:8). Even our own righteousness is described as “filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6).
That is the condition of humanity apart from Christ.
But the Bible does not stop there.
In Christ, the believer is not left in bondage to sin. Scripture says, “Whoever abides in Him does not sin” (1 John 3:6). Through Christ, “the righteous requirement of the law” is fulfilled in those who walk according to the Spirit (Romans 8:4). The sinner becomes “a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
This is why we must be careful not to use one set of verses to deny the other.
Yes, without Christ we are sinful, helpless, and unable to make ourselves righteous.
But in Christ, we are forgiven, transformed, and empowered to walk in obedience.
The difference is not human strength.
The difference is Christ.
