Dear Father,

Lately, loved ones have expressed concerns about the timing of events in my life, the delays involved, and the seeming lack of expected outcomes. Their voices have become so prevalent that I almost stopped to think these recurring concerns were affirmations that I should settle for what I do not even feel ready for. Yet, when I consulted You, I was assured: “I am right where I need to be.”

Still, I pondered the voices of loved ones, and how they can subtly become tools the enemy uses to derail a person from the right path. I remembered the Scripture where Jesus prophesied about His death to His disciples. Then Peter began to rebuke Him, saying, “Be it far from thee, Lord.” Yet Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Get behind me, Satan!”

How is it that the good intention of a loved one could, from the perspective of purpose, be interpreted as inspiration from the devil? We have not looked deeply enough into this deception: that when we are not derailed by obvious evil, the enemy may disguise deception as something good through a trusted voice. How many have been led astray after yielding to the subtle whispers of loving intentions?

However, we must exercise caution, for to truly recognize deception, we must first know You--the One who reveals and directs the journey of our lives.
