Devotional — “Come Out of Hiding”
“And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.” — Genesis 3:10 (KJV)
Thought Of The Day...
There is something powerful about the moment Adam answered God from behind the trees. Sin had changed him. Before disobedience, Adam walked boldly with God. But after sin entered his life, fear replaced confidence and hiding replaced fellowship.
This is still one of the enemy’s greatest tactics today.
The enemy wants you hiding:
• hiding your pain,
• hiding your struggles,
• hiding your failures,
• hiding behind pride,
• hiding behind religion,
• hiding behind a smile while silently breaking inside.
But God never stopped pursuing Adam, and He has not stopped pursuing you.
Even after the fall, God came walking in the garden calling:
“Adam, where art thou?”
God was not asking because He lost Adam’s location. He was asking because He wanted Adam to confront his condition.
Many people are physically alive but spiritually hiding. Shame has convinced them they are too broken for grace. Guilt whispers that God no longer wants them. Fear says they can never recover from what they have done.
But the question God asked Adam still echoes today:
“Who told thee that thou wast naked?”
Who told you your past disqualified you? Who told you your mistakes were greater than God’s mercy? Who told you you could never be restored?
The voice of shame does not come from God.
Jesus did not come to expose you to destruction—He came to redeem you through love. The cross is proof that God still desires fellowship with fallen humanity.
Adam tried to cover himself with fig leaves, but only God could truly cover his shame. In the same way, we cannot heal ourselves through appearances, success, or self-effort. Only the blood of Jesus can cleanse the soul and restore what sin has damaged.
Today, God is calling you out from behind the trees. Out of fear. Out of guilt. Out of condemnation. Out of hiding.
You do not have to run from God anymore. His grace is still reaching for you.
Prayer...
Father, in the name of Jesus, thank You for loving me even when I fail. Forgive me for every sin and every moment I tried to hide from Your presence. Tear down every wall of shame, fear, and condemnation in my life. Help me to walk boldly in Your grace and truth. Restore my heart, renew my mind, and draw me closer to You. I declare that I am no longer hiding in fear because I am covered by the blood of Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Declaration...
• I will not hide from God’s presence.
• I am forgiven through Jesus Christ.
• Shame and fear have no power over me.
• God’s grace is greater than my past.
• I am redeemed, restored, and renewed.
• I am walking in freedom, healing, and victory.
• I am coming out of hiding and into God’s purpose for my life.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
