Epistle of James
James 1:22-25
Good morning everyone,
Today’s scripture from James 1:22-25 gives us a powerful challenge for our Christian life. The Word of God says:
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”
This passage reminds us that Christianity is not only about hearing sermons, reading the Bible, or attending church. True faith is shown by obedience and action.
James compares the Word of God to a mirror. When we look into a mirror, we see ourselves clearly. In the same way, when we read God’s Word, it reveals our hearts, attitudes, sins, and areas where we need to grow.
But James says many people look into the mirror and then walk away unchanged. They hear God’s truth on Sunday, but by Monday they forget it. They know what is right, but they do not live it out.
God is not looking for perfect people; He is looking for obedient hearts.
If the Bible teaches forgiveness, we must forgive.
If the Bible teaches love, we must love others.
If the Bible teaches holiness, we must live holy lives.
If the Bible teaches prayer, we must pray faithfully.
The blessing comes not only from hearing the Word but from practicing it daily.
Verse 25 says that the person who continues in God’s Word and acts on it “will be blessed in what they do.” Obedience brings spiritual strength, peace, joy, and growth.
Today, let us ask ourselves:
Am I only hearing God’s Word?
Or am I allowing it to change my life?
Let us become Christians who not only speak about faith but live it every day through our actions, character, and love.
May our lives reflect Jesus wherever we go.
Let us pray:
“Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word. Help us not to be hearers only, but doers of Your Word. Change our hearts and guide our actions so that our lives may glorify You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
