“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10: 10)
There is no certainty that life will be a bed of roses. On the contrary, it is said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”(John 16: 33)
Both times, the statements don’t end in loss but with a promise and hope. The promise is restoration.
We encounter all kinds of losses in life. It may not only be the financial loss but loss of time due to sickness, traumatic relationship, addiction, missed opportunity, a wrong choice, emotional trauma, experiences of shame and disgrace, or loss of family or children. This is the fallen world we live in, and we are exposed to such attacks.
But the story doesn’t have to end there. "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. (Psalm 30:5)
The restoration is on its way.
As the Prophet was there with his servant and was busy in the jungle, the iron axe head fell into the water; and the man cried out and said, “Alas, master!” — IT WAS SUNK. (2 Kings 6:5)
Then the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” When he showed him the place, he cut down a stick and threw it in there, and made the iron float. (2 Kings 6:6)
The story not only depicts the miracle of the impossibility of a metal floating, but also establishes that loss will be restored even if it looks impossible.
Whether it is a health issue or any sickness, the promise is restoration of health and healing. (Jeremiah 30:17)
Perhaps you have lost years in a relationship only to experience betrayal, rejection, or pain, but God promises fruitfulness. (Hosea 2:15)
You may have a total dead situation, such as addiction in front of you, but God promises life out of dead bones (Ezekiel 37:5)
Some of us endure situations like Job went through with loss of family and fortune, but he was restored with double for the same. (Job 42:10)
Even in the curse of bondage and slavery, God used the same enemy to dispose of fortunes towards His people. (Exodus 3:21)
No matter how impossible it looks, no matter how huge the loss is or how deadly the sickness seems, GOD PROMISES RESTORATION.
There is a time for mourning the loss, but then there is a time to hold on to the promise of RESTORATION to the double of the portion.
Shame or disgrace, sickness or addiction, family or fortune, The GOD is MIGHTY to make the IRON AXE FLOAT. He can use as humble a thing as a wooden stick and get the metal out in place. He can turn the water into wine in no time.
Time, space, source, joy, peace, health, or strength, whatever the enemy tried to steal, God promises SEVEN FOLD REPAY. (Proverbs 6:31)
