Good morning to everyone. Grace and Peace be with you.

Today is going to be a busy day. A new appointment in a town I have never been to, and to make it even better, it is in the neighboring state, which is in a different time zone. The appointment lady gave us one time, the confirmation calls gave us a different time, and then we got documentation yesterday that confirmed the confirmation times. So, what are we going to do … get there even earlier to make sure that we don’t miss anything, and possibly get in early. Because it is an hourish to the west, and a different time zone, that has made it somewhat confusing for me to get my mom to her appointment in the afternoon. Of course, I have made it more difficult than it probably needs to be … but hey … we all need a hobby, right? Haha.

With all that silliness above, the fact that we have the littles, the frustration of not having booth information for a new event I have paid for, a potential computer problem, and the fact that my brain is spinning out of control … haha … I know … it always is, I have a choice to make. Focus on the spinning or focus on the fact that I have the time to tend to all these very small, but consuming issues.

Most of the time, as it has been my experience, the issues that seem to hit us hardest are not the big ones … such as a death or injury. It is not the loss of a job or finances. It is the never-ending list of tiny things. The daily things that start to build on our honey-do list. The grocery list, which seems to grow, but we never mark anything off. It is then that we find it most overwhelming. I know for myself that when I make that list and place it so I can find it to work off it, I will get sidetracked and do ‘other’ things that need to be done as well, and in the process, end up adding more things to the original list. Then at the end of the day, I wonder what I did all day and why is my list bigger rather than smaller. Thus, sending my brain into another tailspin.

Something that I have found that helps me is pretending I am at work again and have a line out the door, but I only focus on that one customer right in front of me. They are my focus. When I finish that transaction, I will move to the next. So is the same with my self-made honey-do lists, whether they are done in order or at random, focus on one task at a time and then mark it off. It seems simple enough, but we are programmed to have a bazillion things going on at the same time, and we should be able to finish them all at the same time.

Last night, I realized that I had worked myself into a tizzy over this appointment and the appointment with mom, trying to do it all on my own and not have to reschedule. When I actually looked at what was before me, I realized that there really was no problem, except in my head. Today is going to be an excellent day. I will knock off things on my list, and I will enjoy the beauty of the day that God has provided.

As you prepare for your day, I suggest that you pick a couple of things on your list to focus on, and when those two things are done, move to the next item. Do not rush to do it all first. Play spin the bottle if you must and let the bottle decide which task gets done first. Have a great day.

Be blessed.
