Do you see yet that the Beatitudes are more than just watery christianity? Jesus has made it clear that the judgment is coming and that few will make it to Heaven. And following that He gives us the most frightening verse a believer could read.
The scene is the day of Judgment. Someone stands before Jesus at a judgment they didn't know they would be at. They come with a confidence having called Jesus Lord, having performed miracles IN HIS NAME and cast out demons IN HIS NAME and yet, Jesus never knew them.
It doesn't say the miracles didn't happen, it doesn't say the demons didn't get cast out. It says there will be people on the day of judgment who truly believe they are saved but are not. And this leads to a chilling question, “Will I be turned away from heaven while believing I'm headed there?”
Or, “HOW do I KNOW I am saved?” It's quite simple, Jesus is judging the lost at the Great White Throne, a place no believer will be. And the lost ones object to the judgment citing evidence of miracles happening and demons fleeing to “prove” their salvation. And it's all happening IN HIS NAME.
So these people believed in Jesus, James says even the demons believe so that's nothing special. The key is did you obey the gospel? Did you hear that Jesus died to pay your penalty? Did you Repent of sin after believing? Did you obey in biblical baptism? If you've done all that, you've been saved.
BUT, when they were trying to ‘prove’ their salvation, they pointed to their efforts. “We did this…And…we did that.” They were pointing to something we can ‘see’ as an accomplishment when the only reason we have for our salvation is God's grace and Jesus's blood.
His work on the cross redeemed us and paid the penalty for our sin. And no amount of good works can save us, it's only through the grace that erases our sin, that we can enter a relationship with Jesus. A relationship that may OR MAY NOT result in miracles and signs, but is not proved by their existence.
In conclusion, miracles, signs and demons fleeing are not “proofs” that one is saved, it is evidence of the power of Jesus's name. Using signs to “prove” salvation is a dangerous road. Some teach that one must speak in tongues to show evidence of salvation it is not only wrong, it is bad fruit, false doctrine and can lead you to one day stand before Jesus, saying, “Lord, Lord”

[21] “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. [22] Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ [23] And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; leave Me, you who practice lawlessness.’
