The Sabbath was not abolished by Jesus — it was honoured by Him.

Jesus kept the Sabbath as His custom. Luke tells us that “as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.” Luke 4:16.

He also declared Himself to be “Lord even of the Sabbath.” Mark 2:28. That means the Sabbath is not against Christ — it belongs to Christ.

And Jesus did not live in rebellion against His Father’s law. He said plainly, “I have kept My Father’s commandments, and abide in His love.” John 15:10.

So when John writes, “He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked,” the pattern is clear. 1 John 2:6.

Jesus kept the Sabbath.
Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath.
Jesus kept His Father’s commandments.

If we claim to follow Him, we are called to walk as He walked.
