Dear Father,
I once seriously desired to become a Chartered Accountant. It so happened that my entire being worked in favor of that desire--I thought about it daily, saved towards it, read intensely for it, and even dreamt about it. I did not rest until I became it. I noticed then that there were no conflicts with what occupied my thoughts; my most valued academic aspiration had an uncontested reserved seat the very moment I made it a priority.
There is an organic relationship between what we prioritize and what occupies our minds. An inward reflection on the unintentional, recurring thoughts in a man's mind would reveal what his priorities are. The challenge, however, is that with You, we are at liberty to speak a thousand words, confessing love and commitment while remaining unaware of the transparency of our hearts before You.
I came across a scripture which says: "In his pride the wicked man does not seek Him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God." While the Psalmist speaks of a mind in which there is no room for You, I ponder the necessity of reserving the highest place for You.
Yet we do not decide what room You occupy with our words, but with our thoughts--the most efficient revealer of what our priorities are.
