Need to know.
The difference between the old and new covenant is not that God changed His law. It is that God changes the heart.

Under the old covenant, the people said, “All that the Lord has spoken we will do” (Exodus 19:8). But human strength could never produce true obedience, because “the carnal mind… is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be” (Romans 8:7).

Under the new covenant, God says, “I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts” (Hebrews 8:10). He gives a new heart, puts His Spirit within His people, and causes them to walk in His statutes (Ezekiel 36:26–27).

So the new covenant is not freedom from obedience.
It is freedom for obedience.

Same law. New heart.
The old covenant depended on man’s promise.
The new covenant depends on God’s grace.
One promised obedience and failed.
The other produces obedience through the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.

Grace does not abolish the law.
Grace writes it on the heart.
