WHY YOU KEEP “STARTING OVER” SPIRITUALLY
(Read this if you are tired of the cycle of spiritual highs and devastating lows. It’s time to break the cycle forever!)
Beloved, I hear the frustration in your spirit. I see the tears of genuine repentance you shed at the altar, only to find yourself right back in the same spiritual rut three weeks later. You cry out to God, you make fresh vows, you go on a fiery three-day fast, and you declare, "This time, it will be different!"
Yet, within a month, the fire dwindles into embers. Your prayer life dries up, your Bible gathers dust, and you find yourself crying out in defeat, asking God to forgive you for "starting over" yet again.
Hear me by the Spirit of the Lord: You do not have a desire problem. You have a STRUCTURE problem.
As an apostolic builder and a prophetic voice of discipleship, I am here to tell you that raw passion without divine architecture will always result in a collapsed spiritual life. Fire needs a fireplace, or it will burn out—or burn your house down.
Here is the expository truth you need to anchor your soul today.
THE MYTH OF "NOT ENOUGH LOVE"
The enemy has lied to you. He has convinced you that because you fall back into spiritual apathy, you must not love God enough. He accuses you, saying your tears of repentance are fake.
That is a lie from the pit of hell.
Your desire is real. Your tears are genuine. The Holy Spirit is actively drawing you. The issue is that you are trying to sustain a supernatural relationship on the erratic fuel of human emotion rather than the solid foundation of spiritual discipline.
Proverbs 25:28 declares: "Whoever has no rule over his own spirit is like a city broken down, without walls."
Notice the Word doesn't say "like a city without passion." It says a city without walls. Walls speak of structure. Walls speak of boundaries, systems, and spiritual architecture. When you lack structure, your spiritual life is defenseless against the passing winds of distraction, fatigue, and the flesh.
THE BIBLICAL BLUEPRINT FOR SPIRITUAL LONGEVITY
If we look at the giants of the faith, they were not sustained by sporadic spiritual spasms; they were sustained by rigid, non-negotiable spiritual structures.
The Structure of Daniel: Daniel did not survive Babylon because he was simply emotional about Jehovah. He survived because he had a structure. Daniel 6:10 says, "He kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime." It was scheduled. It was deliberate. It was a structure.
The Structure of David: Psalm 119:164 says, "Seven times a day I praise You, because of Your righteous judgments." David built an architecture of worship into his daily routine.
The Structure of Jesus: Even our Lord, who possessed the Spirit without measure, submitted to the structure of the fleshly realm to commune with the Father. Mark 1:35 tells us, "Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed."
Jesus had a Time (before daylight), a Place (a solitary place), and an Activity (He prayed).
HOW TO BUILD YOUR SPIRITUAL ARCHITECTURE
It is time to transition from being a spiritual spasm to a spiritual system. If you want to stop starting over, you must crucify the fleshly desire to "wait until you feel like it." Discipleship is not about feelings; it is about obedience.
Here is your apostolic blueprint to stop the cycle:
1. Establish the "When" and "Where" (The Altar)
Stop leaving your prayer life to chance. If you do not schedule God into your day, the world will schedule Him out of it. Pick a specific time and a specific chair or corner in your room. That is your altar. Show up there every single day, whether you feel goosebumps or feel as dry as the Sahara desert.
2. Implement a Word-Intake System
Do not open your Bible randomly hoping for a magical "verse of the day" thrill. Read sequentially. Read intentionally. “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You” (Psalm 119:11). Structure your feeding so your spirit is never starving.
3. Stop Measuring Success by Emotion
Spiritual maturity is doing what you must do for God when your flesh is screaming at you to sleep. Consistency is infinitely more powerful than intensity. Ten minutes of prayer every single day builds a stronger wall than a three-hour prayer marathon once a month.
SOUL-SURRENDERING CALL TO ACTION
Beloved, the days of playing spiritual yo-yo are over. The Lord is releasing grace right now to the builders. He is calling you out of the exhausting cycle of starting over and into the glorious peace of sustained, structured communion.
Will you surrender your erratic ways to Him today? Will you lay down the idol of your "feelings" and pick up the cross of daily discipline?
