When His Banner Covers You
During a time of prayer, the words from Song of Solomon came to mind
“His banner over me is love.” Song of Solomon 2:4
Traditionally, the banner represents a flag or standard. In Scripture, banners were raised to identify who people belonged to and whose authority they stood under. They were symbols of protection, victory, and covenant.
As I reflected on this verse, I began thinking about the Jewish wedding chuppah. The chuppah symbolises covenant, protection, and the home the bride and bridegroom will build together. It is a covering under which promises are made and a new life begins.
What if this image helps us understand the richness of God’s love?
When God says, “His banner over me is love,” He is declaring a covenant love. He is drawing us close beneath His covering and saying, “You belong to Me.”
We do not stand alone.
We stand beneath the covering of the King.
His banner over us is not judgment. It is protection.
It is not rejection. It is belonging.
It is not fear. It is covenant love.
The Bridegroom is calling His bride closer.
Rest beneath His covering.
Receive His love.
Receive His protection.
Receive the love that has never failed and never will.
His banner over you is love.
