While I was praying before church, the Lord showed me a beautiful pond reflecting a sunset.

As I looked, I asked Him, “Lord, why a sunset? A sunset marks the end of the day.”

I sensed Him say:

“ I have brought you to the edge of a new day. Do not mourn the passing of the old season, for what is setting must set so that what I have ordained may arise. The former ways will not sustain what I am about to do. Fix your eyes upon Me, not upon methods of the past. I am making all things new. My Spirit will move with fresh power, fresh revelation, and fresh authority. As surely as the dawn follows the sunset, so My purposes will come forth. Those who remain yielded to My Spirit will recognise the new day and walk in it. Watch and listen, for I am doing a new thing.”

As I reflected on this, several scriptures came to mind.

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?” Isaiah 43:18-19

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.”
Lamentations 3:22-23

“See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.” Isaiah 42:9

“To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1

What struck me most was that the Lord used a sunset to speak about a sunrise.

Sometimes we grieve what is ending because we cannot yet see what is coming. Yet God often allows one season to close so another can begin. What is setting must set so that what He has ordained may arise.

The Lord is not calling us to cling to what He did yesterday. He is calling us to keep our eyes fixed on Him as He leads us into what He is doing today.

The sunset is not the end of the story.

The dawn is already on its way.

If you find yourself in a season of transition, do not fear the setting sun. Trust the One who has already prepared the morning.
